ESCWA, in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), is conducting a national training workshop on macro-fiscal modelling and forecasting (MFMF) for Jordan. By providing access to a dynamic user-friendly interface, developed by ESCWA, the training aims to enhance the capacity of policymakers in Jordan to use macroeconomic forecasts and simulations to better inform decisions on financing social expenditures and the SDGs, in line with national priorities. The hands-on training supports decision-makers in assessing macroeconomic policy scenarios without the need to manually program the model and input equations, which remain at the backend of the interface.
The training focuses on understanding macro-fiscal modelling using the example of the extended single-country World Economic Forecasting Model and its applications for policymaking.
