This initiative focuses on supporting Member States in following up on the implementation of Goal 11 of the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda and strengthening their National Urban Policy considered as the key process to move towards a localized, inclusive, and sustainable urban development.
The project contributes to increasing policy coherence, strengthening the capabilities of decision-makers at the national and local levels and establishing sound mechanisms for promoting a participatory approach in relation to urban development.
Within the Arab region, the project is being implemented in Jordan (Amman) and Morocco (Agadir) as the pilot countries. It is geared towards developing the first two Voluntary Local Reviews in the Arab region.
