On 29 November, ESCWA marked the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People through a virtual official ceremony.
Following a message from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, the event featured a keynote intervention by Director of the Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) at Columbia University Professor Jeffrey Sachs, a world-renowned economist, public policy analyst, and global leader in sustainable development.
The ceremony had also featured statements by ESCWA Executive Secretary Rola Dashti, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa. In her statement, Dashti urged the international community to take action to ensure that UNRWA receives the necessary financial resources and political support to pursue its mission, and to exert pressure in all forums to stop the hostilities against the Palestinians.
