Using blockchain technology to facilitate trade in the Arab region: July 2024
December 2024
The present report explores ways to use blockchain technology to facilitate trade in the Arab region, building on several successful projects that rely on this technology to facilitate international trade. The report sets out comprehensive proposals and solutions for using blockchain technology to facilitate intraregional trade, such as improving customs clearance and strengthening supply chains. It discusses how this technology can help unify certificates of origin between participating countries.
The report demonstrates the enormous potential of blockchain to improve international trade and enhance transparency and security, as its adoption does not require a complete overhaul of the legislative and regulatory environment, but rather can be built upon existing legislation. It concludes by calling for the development of phased projects and exploring the technology more closely to achieve its full benefits.
