Committee on Social Development

The Committee identifies social priorities and follows up on the implementation of programmes to advance social development in the Arab region.

The Committee on Social Development was established in accordance with ESCWA resolution 198 (XVII) of 31 May 1994, subsequently endorsed by the United Nations Economic and Social Council in its resolution 27/1994 of 26 July 1994. The Committee identifies social priorities in member States, and follows up on the implementation of programmes to advance social development in the Arab region. It also follows up on international and regional conferences, and coordinates regional efforts to implement resulting resolutions and decisions.
