To tackle debt and macroeconomic challenges in the Arab region, ESCWA and UNCTAD organized a workshop on developing debt optimization strategies to enhance fiscal space and provide financing for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Arab countries.
Conducted on 19 and 20 December, the workshop delved into discussions on debt management practices and debt sustainability strategies of participating countries, and addressed factors that impact risks and costs of debt and debt service. It was also an avenue to deliberate on different options for debt optimization to inform their management strategies.
On 21 December, ESCWA also organized a national workshop to discuss debt management practices and debt sustainability strategies and challenges in Oman.
