To reduce poverty in all its dimensions in Jordan and achieve the first goal of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, ESCWA, the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and the Department of Statistics organized a workshop to develop a Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) for Jordan, in partnership with the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI).
The workshop, held from 2 to 5 October, introduced national stakeholders to the multidimensional poverty methodology, and recommended proper methodologies to build relevant policy tools.
An actionable roadmap to link the MPI to national policies and the planning and budgeting process was also identified.
