From 27 February to 1 March, ESCWA participated in the fifty-fifth session of the United Nations Statistical Commission through numerous side events, substantive discussions as well as bilateral meetings with the aim of preparing regional positions and seeking collaborations with member States, regional and international partners.
Discussions revolved around the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics, SDG indicators, national accounts, population and housing census, climate change statistics, environmental-economic accounting, household surveys and economic statistics.
The UN Statistical Commission serves as the highest body within the international statistical system, where global statistical standards are considered and approved.
