On the occasion of International French Language Day, ESCWA, in collaboration with Saint Joseph University - Beirut, organized on 20 March a special event entitled “For what remains” at the UN House in Beirut.
Students and professionals got together to celebrate the linguistic and cultural diversity of the United Nations. The event included interactive exercises, and poetry readings, in addition to a tribute to Nadia Tueni, the Lebanese Francophone poet.
The French Language Day is marked every year on 20 March. It is one of the UN six official languages celebrated each year to raise awareness of multilingualism and cultural diversity.
