To provide care and rehabilitation for persons with disabilities and empower them to become active members of society, ESCWA, UNDP and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour in Syria, organized a capacity-building workshop for staff in social care institutes who deal with persons with disabilities.
The workshop - held on 8 and 9 November - discussed best practices throughout the world in terms of inclusion and empowerment, so that rehabilitation institutions can abide by the standards of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
The 2-day workshop was the culmination of four previously held workshops involving directors of labour and social affairs in various governorates, as well as directors of social welfare institutes affiliated with the ministry.
