Optimizing poverty reduction using the Multidimensional Poverty Index

Poverty in the Arab region is one of the main phenomena that Governments seek to confront and reduce. The Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) is one of the basic tools that measure the multiple forms or dimensions of poverty faced by the most disadvantaged families.
 
ESCWA, the Iraqi Central Statistical Organization (CSO) and the Ministry of Planning in Iraq, organized a workshop on optimizing poverty reduction pathways, using the Iraq’s national MPI.
 
In a similar context, ESCWA, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development (MEDD) in Mauritania, the National Agency for Statistics, Demographic and Economic Analysis (ANSADE) and the UN Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) organized a workshop to discuss the findings and implications of the technical report on “Optimizing Poverty Reduction Pathways in Mauritania: Using the MPI-M ".
