Women’s economic empowerment is key to achieving gender equality and broader development goals, such as economic growth, poverty reduction, and improvements in health, education, and social well-being.
On 9 July, ESCWA, the League of Arab States (LAS) and UN-Women, organized a regional meeting to strengthen the capacity of the Subcommittee on Gender Equality in terms of women's economic empowerment and access to decent work.
Participants discussed the current state of women’s economic empowerment in the region, ways to enhance Arab States' efforts, and the policies needed in this regard. They also shared best practices related to increasing women’s safety and access to decent work.
