Maternity protection
Definition:
Maternity protection for employed women includes: (a) protection of the health of mother and child during pregnancy, childbirth and breastfeeding; (b) maternity leave: the mother’s right to a period of rest in relation to childbirth; (c) cash and medical benefits: the right to cash benefits during absence for maternity; (d) employment protection and non-discrimination: guaranteeing the woman employment security and the right to return to the same position or an equivalent position paid at the same rate at the end of her maternity leave; (e) the mother’s right to one or more daily breaks or a daily reduction of hours of work to breastfeed her child.
