Definition:

Refers to livestock raised by holders who live a semi-nomadic life. Typically, the holder has a permanent residence to which he/she returns for several months of the year according to seasonal factors. For semi-nomadic and semi-pastoral systems, the holder establishes a semi-permanent home for several months or years and may cultivate crops as a supplementary food source. Herds are moved on transhumance to assure forage and water.
