The conference assesses the achievements and progress made halfway through the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030, in reducing global fatalities and serious injuries globally. It renews countries' commitment to achieving the goals of the Decade of Action for Road Safety by 2030. Participants share road safety expertise, pioneering experiences and best practices especially from countries that have recorded a significant reduction in the number of road fatalities between 2010 and 2021.
The conference includes a special session to present the UNRSF funded "Safe and Inclusive Road Design in North and West Africa" project. The session presents the objectives and deliverables of the project and facilitates dialogue among policymakers, practitioners, and development partners on key challenges and opportunities in the region. Insights on inclusive road design practices that enhance safety for all road users are shared.
