As part of Cairo Water Week, UN-Habitat, with support from ESCWA, is organizing a panel discussion focused on water scarcity in communities hosting displaced persons in Jordan and Lebanon.
The session provides an overview of the current water scarcity challenges impacting cities in the MENA region, the trajectory of urban water scarcity in light of climate change, and a description of potential solutions to the challenge, including climate mainstreamed urban planning and technological solutions, such as rooftop rainwater harvesting and treated wastewater use.
This session is featured as part of a UN-Habitat-led and ESCWA-supported project financed by the Adaptation Fund to address climate impacts on water scarcity in cities hosting displaced persons in Jordan and Lebanon.
