On the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, ESCWA, the Arab NGO Network for Development, and the Phenix Center are jointly organizing a session at the Civil Society Policy Forum, entitled “Arab Voices for Sustainable Development Financing: Rights-Based Approaches to Addressing the Debt-Tax-Climate Crises”. The session is aimed at exploring the sovereign debt landscape in the Arab region, contextualized within the broader framework of climate action and the SDGs, and at examining key proposals, such as the ESCWA Climate/SDGs Debt Swap – Donor Nexus Initiative and existing climate resilient debt clauses.
