Within the framework of the technical support provided by ESCWA to the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour in the Syrian Arab Republic to develop the implementation plan of the Community-based Inclusive Development (CBID) project, ESCWA is organizing a workshop to present and discuss the draft document in preparation for its approval, in cooperation with the ministry and with funding from the United Nations Development Programme in the Syrian Arab Republic.
The document includes the following:
- The plan and working mechanisms that will be adopted to implement the CBID approach on the ground.
- The technical requirements necessary to implement the CBID approach in the Syrian Arab Republic.
- An identification of the community services that will be implemented within the framework of the CBID approach.
- An identification of the human resources needed to implement the strategy together with persons with disabilities and their families.
The workshop includes representatives of various ministries and government institutions concerned with issues of persons with disabilities, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations active in the field of rights and service provision to persons with disabilities.
